Discover Surrey Hills Wine

Vineyards of the Surrey Hills

To understand English wine, you need to understand where it grows. For Denbies, that means looking beyond our own vines.

English Wine, Grown in Surrey

Wine regions are not built by one estate alone. They are shaped through shared standards, shared storytelling and a shared belief in the place the wines come from. Denbies is proud to be one of the founding estates behind Vineyards of the Surrey Hills, created in 2019 alongside Albury, Chilworth Manor, Greyfriars and High Clandon.

Today, seven independent vineyards make up the route, but the purpose remains the same: to celebrate Surrey wine and the place behind it, from chalky lime and sandstone hills to North Downs views, historic villages and independent cellar doors.

Seven Vineyards, One Region

From Greyfriars in the west to Denbies in the east, barely 15 miles separates the vineyards, making the route compact enough to explore over a day or weekend. Each vineyard reveals how much variety can be found within one remarkable landscape.

Some vineyards are known for organic growing, others for boutique sparkling wines, historic settings or quiet views across the Downs. Together, they show how much variety can be found within one remarkable region.

Beyond Our Own Vines

Denbies sits at the eastern end of the route, with vines first planted in 1986 and 265 acres now under vine. That gives us a long view of Surrey wine, and a responsibility to help more people discover the region around us.Wine regions are not built by one estate alone. They are shaped through shared standards, shared storytelling and a shared belief in the place the wines come from.

“Being able to offer the complete English wine experience is really important to us,” says Chris White, CEO of Denbies. “That experience is not only about what happens at one estate. It is about helping visitors see Surrey as part of the English wine story, shaped by the unique landscape behind every glass.”

Surrey Hills Wine Week

Surrey Hills Wine Week brings that shared story to life. Running from Saturday 30 May to Sunday 7 June 2026, the first event will see all seven vineyards open their gates with tours, tastings and special experiences across the region.

For visitors, it is a chance to explore Surrey wine through the place that shapes it. For Denbies, it is a chance to welcome people into a regional story we are proud to have helped build.
