Secret Vineyard Tasting Trail

Summer/Autumn 2019
‘A unique opportunity to experience areas of the vineyard not normally accessible to the general public’

The ‘Secret Vineyard Tasting Trail’ will only take place on Saturday’s during the height of the vineyard season and is weather dependent*.  Meet in Denbies reception, the trail will start outside the Farm Shop and will meander through the vines.  Throughout the trail, your Wine Guide will be providing information on the vineyard, grape varietals and the wine production at Denbies.  This is an informal tour so questions will be welcomed at all times.  The trail will change so no two days will be the same.

Tasting Stop 1
The Limes – this parcel is the heart of Muller Thurgau

Tasting Stop 2
The Dell – nestling half way up the Dell, this is the Rondo parcel,
famous for producing the Best Rosé in the World 2010

Tasting Stop 3
‘The Secret Vineyard’ Yew Tree Field – serious Pinot Noir country

Tasting Stop 4
The Hollow – Denbies estate honey and local cheese tasting with Denbies wine

You will then climb up to the highest point of the vineyard and return to the estate building

Length of tour – approx. 1½ /2 hours/distance approx. 5/6k

The vineyard trail takes you at a leisurely pace to some of the most beautiful viewing points in the vineyard. Experience the magnificent panoramic views of the 265 acres under vine with far reaching views over the Denbies Estate and the North Downs. Cameras are strongly recommended

Booking information – Secret tours will only go live on the website and be available for purchase in the week preceding the Saturday of the tour.  The tour will also be published via Denbies social media and the website (www.denbies.co.uk).  Tour is suitable for people with a good level of fitness over the age of 18yrs

Introductory offer/until end 2019 – £25 per person  (this is based on a group – maximum 20 guests)

Bespoke Secret Vineyard Trail (Vineyard Hotel guests only) – £75 per person – minimum 2 guests

Includes all wine, cheese and honey tasting/bottled water/expert wine guide

Denbies Wine and Cheese Making Experience

Thursday 2019

Norbury Blue cheese is made locally.
The milk comes from a farm-assured, closed herd of Friesian cows.
Denbies Wine Estate is England’s largest vineyard, set in 265 acres of vines.

Exclusive to Denbies, this is an informative and enjoyable day.

10.00 Denbies Wine Estate
Tea/Coffee and Danish Pastry served on arrival.

10.30 Norbury Blue
During the visit to Norbury Blue, you will learn all about the cheese making process and experience first-hand, the opportunity to make cheese in the traditional way. This will include full involvement from ‘cutting’ the curds and whey to loading the moulds.

13.00 Lunch
Return to Denbies for hot lunch.

14.30 Denbies Winery
The afternoon will be spent in the working winery with our Denbies wine expert where instruction will be given on the blending of wine & wine styles. You will then be invited to try a selection of Denbies award winning wines.

Due to the fact that Denbies is a working winery, bottling, labelling and filtering of the wines may also be taking place.

Please note –Denbies Wine Estate is a working winery. All timings are approximate and may have to be rescheduled to fit in with the workings of the vineyard & winery

Denbies Gin & Vine Experience

Thursday 2019

Experience a morning at the local ‘The Gin Kitchen’, producers of Gutsy Monkey, and get some hands-on distilling experience, learn about the craft of gin making, create your own botanicals and perfect the ultimate gin and tonic.

Followed by lunch in the Gallery Restaurant and an afternoon hosted by Denbies Wine Expert, where you will gain an understanding of the wine tasting experience – vine to glass – including a tour of the winery and vineyard

Exclusive to Denbies, this is an informative and enjoyable day.

10.00 Denbies Wine Estate
Tea/Coffee and Danish Pastry served on arrival.

10.30 Gutsy Monkey
During the visit to The Gin Kitchen , you will learn all the craft of gin making, choose your botanicals and create your own Gin.

13.00 Lunch
Return to Denbies for your perfect Gin and Tonic made with your gin and followed by a hot lunch.

14.30 Denbies Winery
The afternoon will be spent in the working winery with our Denbies wine expert.  You will then be invited to try a selection of Denbies award winning wines.
