2014 New planting
Denbies has just completed the second year of an extensive vine plantation. 27500 vines were planted in 2013,
we have planted Solaris, an early ripening, mildew resistant variety on the steep chalky slopes. This will be used for still white wines as a single varietal, and to add flavour to larger white blends.
On the lower ground closer to the entrance of the estate, we have planted Bacchus, which has become THE flagship white wine variety for the UK. It produces fragrant, aromatic wines which have gained international recognition over the last five years.
If you have been avidly watching SpringWatch we are very pleased to report a very active start to the season, 2 or 3 pairs of partridge, resident pair of buzzards and vocal skylarks together with a flock of Starlings and grey wagtails have all been spotted.
