Double Award winning week for Denbies

March 2017

Firstly we would like to say how proud we all are, and rightly so, this week we have not only won one but two outstanding awards.  We always strive to deliver excellence and it is particularly rewarding when this is recognised by others.

The first award was received on Wednesday evening at Croydon College,

Croydon College – Outstanding Employer Contribution Award 2017

Croydon College works with 300 employers and the three organisations who were shortlisted, were judged by senior College Management, to have gone above and beyond in terms of their support for their apprentice/s and their use of apprenticeships as a staff development tool. The winner, Denbies, was unanimously agreed by the judging panel.  It is an award that is presented once each year by Croydon College during National Apprenticeship week.   Denbies have been working with the college since 2013, over the past 4 years, 30 Denbies employees have successfully passed their NVQ qualifications including Hospitality, Housekeeping, cooking and business administration.  An additional 4 staff are enrolled to commence in 2017.

‘Croydon College has been an invaluable resource and has enabled our team to gain excellent qualifications which will benefit them not only while they are working at Denbies but for their future.  Denbies is committed to internal recruitment and offering on-the-job training is extremely beneficial for all concerned.’ commented Natacha Mudoo, Denbies HR Manager.

Dan O’Connor, Catering Manager, also remarked on the advantages of the NVQ training, ‘The increase in confidence has been remarkable; our mentor from Croydon College is always on hand and provides fantastic support.’

Followed by the Surrey digital Award, on Thursday 9 March.

Surrey Digital Gold Award for Best Website 2017

‘Clinching gold in the flagship “Website” classification was Dorking vineyard & venue Denbies Wine Estate.’

Denbies welcomes in excess of 350,000 visitors per annum to the estate, the website plays an integral part in delivering accurate detailed information, effective communication and directions for visitors from out of the area.   The team at Denbies were absolutely delighted to have been awarded the SDA Gold for best website.  The site is delivering information on multiple levels on one site as well as Wine Sales on-line. Although we employ many traditional methods within the business we have recognised the importance of adapting and evolving to meet the demands of the digital age.

‘We are thrilled and very much appreciate receiving this award.  The competition was formidable and many congratulations to all the other entrants.’ commented Olivia Simpson, Denbies Website Administrator, ‘Relationships building is a key part of Denbies ethos and in particular we would like to thank Design by Pre, based locally in Epsom, who we have worked with for the past 10 years.’

Established in 2014, the Surrey Digital Awards is part of series of similar schemes looking to reward innovation and progressive thinking by businesses, individuals, events, charities or educational establishments.
